Running errands in Durban

A view of the Umgeni River with Athlone Bridge and the M4
Family of monkeys chilling out along Burman Drive.  A common sight.
Today we had errands to run all over the city.  Here are a couple of pics taken along the way.  We stopped at Mitchell Park for lunch, which is where this bottom pic of my mother was taken.  She used to swing me in the playground here when I was just a little thing!

For the Birds

My dad loved to watch the birds at the bird feeder, so when he came home from the hospital, my mom put his bed next to the window and hung the bird feeder right outside for him.  When it all comes down, it's the simple things that give the most pleasure.

My Dad: 3/20/1928 - 2/20/2012

I am so grateful to have been with my mom at my dad's side when he drew his last breath.  I will be in South Africa until mid March.  Thanks to all those who made that possible by taking care of business back home.

Best Buddies

It's amazing and very touching to watch the bond develop between a dog and a child.  They communicate in a special language all of their own and it starts before the child can even crawl.

I'm glad Daddy can catch!

This was this morning outside.  Gideon was getting some serious air!  Word from South Africa is that Dad is doing much better.  We are so grateful.

Get well soon, Dad

Thinking about and praying for my Dad for the last couple of days.  Because of complications from a recent routine surgery, he is in ICU in a hospital in Durban, South Africa - thousands of miles away from here.  We are scheduled to visit in less than a month, so Dad get better soon - we love you and can't wait for you to meet your first great grandson.
