The Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus

Well, ordinarily I would not have given this a passing glance, but now that I have a 5 year old grandson, it was a perfect opportunity to spend some seriously fun one-on-one time with him. He had been crossing the days off a calendar and by the time Sunday arrived, he could hardly contain himself.  Needless to say, the circus didn't disappoint, and it was certainly a show to remember.  Here are some of the highlights.

Road trip to 100 Acre Farm, Madison, GA

If you've read this blog a couple of times through the years, you will have noticed that I LOVE road trips.  This weekend I had planned to spend more time at Hunting Island State Park in Beaufort, SC but the weather forecast necessitated a change of plan.  I decided to go where the sun was supposed to shine, and that was in the upstate or inland area of South Carolina or Georgia as it finally happened.  I remember passing this farm during a 2010 road trip along 278 on the way back from a wedding in Atlanta. I had stopped at the time, trespassed a little up the driveway and vowed to come back again to explore further.  This I did yesterday with my friend and road trip warrior, Linda.  What a gem of a place and what fun.  We walked the trails, enjoyed a hearty breakfast, met some great new friends, but most of all we were fascinated by the animals and critters, specifically the chickens.  How refreshing it is to spend even one night away from home, having fun and doing crazy stuff :)

The Annual Edgewater Park Bridge Run

Not to be outdone by the Cooper River Bridge Run that happens on the same day, our neighborhood hosts their version of the "Welcome to Spring in Charleston" exercise opportunity later in the day. The t-shirts could be confused with the real deal, except this is a 0.1km run; the length of the bridge over the Coburg Creek on the approach to Edgewater Island. It has become a highly anticipated annual event, and the focal point of much community preparation and entertainment. Here are a couple of images from yesterday's event.  There were two heats; one for the 6 and unders, and the other for everyone else. The winners are usually kids who complete the run in under 10 seconds. Actually I believe the run serves merely as an opening act for the real deal which is the after party :)

Family Portraits: Four little girls

What a challenge but how worthwhile it was to spend a couple of hours photographing this family of four little girls. How smart of the parents to regularly document their progress as they grow up.  They change so quickly and who wouldn't want to remember them like this!  They were so sweet and so enchanted with their newest sister. With Mom's permission I can't resist posting a couple of the images.
